STATEWIDE COLLEGE
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In an effort
to help high school students improve their academic preparation for
baccalaureate degree programs, the Board of Higher Education hereby announces
that it has established statewide minimum admission standards for public
colleges and universities in
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Credits Subjects
4 English (emphasizing written and oral
communications and literature)
3 Social Studies (emphasizing history and
government)
3 Mathematics (introductory through
advanced algebra, geometry, trigonometry or fundamentals of computer
programming)
3 Science (laboratory sciences)
2 Foreign language, music, art or
vocational education
Individual
public universities and community colleges may have other subject requirements
in effect as well as other requirements involving test scores and grade point
averages. Applicants must contact each
college or university individually for details about all of its requirements.
Admission
requirements for private colleges and universities vary. Each must be contacted separately for
information about requirements.
