What is the new schedule?
New First Full Day of School for students: Monday, August 24
Why is the start of school delayed?
Additional time is needed to make sure every classroom and common area is ready for our students and staff when they return. We want to take the extra time now to ensure the buildings are operating as they should and providing a high-quality learning environment.
We will continue monitoring humidity levels and completing the necessary adjustments to help maintain the right conditions throughout the buildings. The additional time will allow a thorough check of each area, needed adjustments, so everything is ready for the start of the school year.
Will we need to make up the missed school days? If so, when?
We are currently working with the Regional Office of Education (ROE) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to determine how the missed school days will be addressed. Once we receive guidance and finalize a plan, we will communicate any calendar changes with staff and families as soon as possible.

Is Paris Cooperative High School also delaying the start of school?
No. Paris Cooperative High School will open as scheduled. The delay only impacts District 95 school buildings. The first day of student attendance at Paris Cooperative High School is Wednesday, August 12, as originally scheduled. District 95 students who attend Paris Cooperative High School should report to school tomorrow according to the regular high school schedule.
When will Bridges, PALS, and TLC students start school?
Bridges (Grades 6–8): Students will begin school on Friday, August 12
PALS (Grades 9-12): Students will begin school on Friday, August 14
Kansas TLC: Students will begin school on Monday, August 24
Will sports and athletic activities continue as scheduled?
Yes. All District 95 fall sports are currently being held outdoors. Baseball, softball, and cross country practices and events will continue as scheduled.
Is it safe for students and staff to return?
Safety is our highest priority. We are closely monitoring the work and will not compromise student or staff safety. Any necessary work will be completed or appropriately managed before students and staff return to affected areas.
Was the project poorly planned?
This is a major, complex modernization project involving HVAC, geothermal systems, building automation, fire protection and other infrastructure improvements. The District selected an experienced project partner and has been working closely with the construction team throughout the process. As with any major construction project, unexpected conditions can arise, and we are focused on addressing them as quickly and responsibly as possible.
Is the District going to have to spend more money due to the delay?
The District has selected a partner that provides a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). This will not cost the District or the community any extra money.
Why did the District choose this company?
The District selected a company with extensive experience delivering complex infrastructure projects and a history of working with organizations throughout Illinois and the United States.
Why was the project done during the summer?
Summer provides the best opportunity to complete significant work in school facilities while minimizing disruption to students and staff. The project was planned around the school calendar, which creates a relatively short construction window.

For transportation questions, families are encouraged to visit the Transportation tab located under “For Families” on the District 95 website. Families can use this page to ask transportation-related questions or register their student for transportation.
